Gary Fawver
Name: Gary K. Fawver
Occupation: Professor of Outdoor Ministries Emeritus--George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, USA. Retired as of May 2003.
Church ministry: on the worship planning committee responsible for planning 3 worship services each Sunday morning.
Education: Doctor of Ministry from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, USA in 1985. Prior to that a Master of Divinity degree and bachelors degree.
Camp work experience: Founding director of Tilikum, Center for retreats and outdoor Ministries, from 1971-1990. It is a camp owned and operated under the managing umbrella of George Fox University. University teacher of camping courses for many years, fulltime from 1991-2003. Currently working on a curriculum for training camp directors (Camp Directors Institute) for CCI/Russia. This program will be launched in October 2004.
Experience with CCI: Active with CCCA/USA from 1963 to present. Instructor at many national and regional conventions, contributor of articles to the CCI magazine, national President for 2 years. Involved in CCI/Russia since 1991 in running summer camps and in training leaders.
Family status: Married; wife Susan, son Michael (41), Michelle (38), and Stephen (37). And 9 grandchildren between the ages of 3 and 10.
Favorite Scripture passages: Job 37:14 and Psalm 77:70-72.
Hobbies: doing things outdoors including hiking, photography.
