CCLC Syllabus


Track 1. Camp Director I

Participants: current or future directors, who have not taken Basic Camp Directors Course at CCI/Russia training events.

Courses:

  1. Basic Camp Directors Course (13,5 hours) � Galina Gainulina (Tumen, Russia), Eugeny Kokora (Novorossiysk, Russia), Inars Mednis (Elgava, Latvia), Sergey Khokhlovsky (Moscow, Russia). Even if you�re a new camp director, you don't have to make all the costly and painful mistakes of your own in order to learn leading a camp. This course presents the foundational principles that will help you systematize what you know about camping ministry and get a broad perspective of camp director's role.
  2. Basic Legal Aspects of Camp Management (4 hours) � Eugeny Kokora (Novorossiysk, Russia). You'll become familiar with the laws affecting your camp and practical tips on how to keep them. You will cover aspects like: staff certification, safety, housing specifications, government reporting, rental contracts, dealing with Health Department, etc.
  3. Strategic Planning (4 hours) � Dan DeGroat (Texas, USA). Strategic planning is not the same as long-range planning. This seminar will explain the important difference. Learn how to evaluate your present ministry using a tried and proven method of analysis, so you can take advantage of ministry opportunities that will be most fruitful for God's Kingdom.

Track 2. Camp Director II

Participants: working directors, who have taken Basic Camp Directors Course at CCI/Russia training events.

Courses:

  1. Evaluating Camp Staff (9,5 hours) � Tim Duffield (Ontario, Canada). The goal of this course is to help you develop the self-confidence and the skills to conduct staff evaluations that both you and your staff will look forward to. You will learn how to build self-esteem in your staff and help them develop into dynamic servants of our Lord. You will receive sample evaluation forms and be taught how to use them. Course includes principles, methods, tools and procedures of staff evaluation.
  2. Interviewing and Hiring Camp Staff (4 hours) � Tim Duffield (Ontario, Canada). In this course you will learn how to conduct successful interviews enabling you to select the right staff for your camp.
  3. Effective Ministry Principles: Start with Yourself (4 hours).
  4. Beyond Time Management (4 hours) � Tim Duffield (Ontario, Canada). This course begins with an overview and discussion around the three key principles for achieving maximum value from your time: Seeing Broadly (understanding what is important); Maximizing Accomplishment (take the best approach); Setting Priorities (using the filters of urgency, authority, time and impact). Each participant will identify and take a broad view of their real-world priorities in order to help understand where they should focus their attention. From there, each participant works through the process of re-prioritizing their accountabilities by using the appropriate filters.

Track 3. Program Leader I

Participants: current or future program leaders, who have not taken Basic Program Leaders Course at CCI/Russia training events.

Courses:

  1. Basic Program Leaders Course (9,5 hours) � Larisa Zhukova (Moscow, Russia), Viktoria Bortko (Riga, Latvia).
  2. Vital Principles of Working with Campers (4 hours) � Tammy Harrell (Tumen, Russia).
  3. Effective Bible Lessons (8 hours) � Valentina Fedorova (Moscow, Russia).
  4. Three minor courses of your choice (see list in the bottom of Syllabus).

Track 4. Program Leader II

Participants: working program leaders, who have taken Basic Program Leaders Course at CCI/Russia training events.

Courses:

  1. Advanced Program Leaders Course (9,5 hours) � Tatiana Bursianina (St. Petersburg, Russia), Tatiana Omelchuk (Novosibirsk, Russia). This course will cover principles that help Program Leaders create, run, and develop programs for Christian camps. Instructors will put special emphasis on making a camp session program. Only for PLs who have taken the Basic Program Leaders Course.
  2. Generating Ideas (4 hours) � Larisa Zhukova (Moscow, Russia). How to keep the fountain of ideas flowing.
  3. Motivating Staff (4 hours).
  4. Developing Camp Staff (4 hours) � Tammy Harrell (Tumen, Russia). Christian camp is a place where both campers and staff grow personally. What can you do to facilitate your staff growth as a Camp Director or Program Leader? Come to our class and learn why it is important, how to do it, and what results you can achieve!
  5. Three minor courses of your choice (see list in the bottom of Syllabus).

Track 5. Spiritual Counselor I

Participants: camp staff that provide spiritual counseling ministry in camp (speakers, spiritual counselors, directors, program leaders, senior counselors) and have not taken Spiritual Counseling course at CCI/Russia training events.

Courses:

  1. Advanced Biblical Counseling (13,5 hours) � Carolyn Rice (South Carolina, USA). Learn how to actively listen and ask good questions in order to best understand the person you are counseling. What do you need to know about a person BEFORE giving advice or counsel? How can you apply the Bible to modern-day problems? Learn to counsel Biblical to help others overcome deep life hurts, chronic temptations, sinful patterns and more.
  2. Crisis and Trauma Intervention (4 hours) � Carolyn Rice (South Carolina, USA). Participants will learn how to help people who have experienced trauma (death or violence to a loved one, acts of terrorism, natural disasters, war, endangerment to self or loved ones, assault/abuse and more). Participants will learn and practice intervention techniques for helping people in the first few hours, days and weeks after the trauma in order to prevent more severe psychological problems from developing in future. Some time will be given to dealing with group tragedies. This course includes an overview of the psychological affects of trauma on different age groups, as well as tips for those who work in care-giving fields on how to recognize and cope with symptoms of stress and burnout.
  3. Sowing and Reaping Spiritual Fruit in a Child (4 hours) � Dan DeGroat (Texas, USA).
  4. Three minor courses of your choice (see list in the bottom of Syllabus).

Track 6. Spiritual Counselor II

Participants: camp staff that provide spiritual counseling ministry in camp (speakers, spiritual counselors, directors, program leaders, senior counselors) and have taken Spiritual Counseling course at CCI/Russia training events.

Courses:

  1. How to Teach Campers to Forgive (13,5 hours) � Oxana Schindler (Tumen, Russia), Roedie & Jeannette Rap (Australia).
  2. Christ is the Fulfillment of the Law and Prophets (8 hours) � Ilya Grits (Moscow, Russia).
  3. Three minor courses of your choice (see list in the bottom of Syllabus).

Track 7. Special Campers

Participants: camp staff who work with special campers (children with disabilities, orphans, etc.).

Courses:

  1. Campers from Orphanages (9,5 hours) � Inessa Klimovich (St. Petersburg, Russia).
  2. Campers' Deviant Behavior (8 hours) � Steve Holm (Texas, USA).
  3. Campers with Special Needs (4 hours) � Natalia Andreeva (Istra, Russia).
  4. Three minor courses of your choice (see list in the bottom of Syllabus).

Track 8. Youth & Young Adults Ministry

Participants: youth workers and anyone who is concerned about working with young people (including parents!). Your gender, position in camp or church, experience and background are not important.

Track 9. Regional Training

Participants: leaders and facilitators of regional seminars conducted in Spring 2007: Deans, Directors, MCs.
