Courses:

  1. Basic Camp Directors Course (13,5 hours) – Galina Gainulina (Tumen, Russia), Mikhail Pimenov (Moscow, Russia), Vladislav Vovk (Istra, Russia), and Vyacheslav Altukhov (Latvia). Even if you’re a new camp director, you don't have to make all the costly and painful mistakes of your own in order to learn how to lead a camp. This course presents the foundational principles that will help you systematize what you know about camping ministry and get a broader perspective of the camp director's role.
  2. Strategic Planning (8 hours) – Dan DeGroat (Texas, USA). Strategic planning is not the same as long-range planning. This seminar will explain the important difference. Learn how to evaluate your present ministry using a tried and proven method of analysis, so you can take advantage of ministry opportunities that will be most fruitful for God's Kingdom.
  3. For Directors of Tent Camps: Tent Camping Life and Safety (4 hours) – Mikhail Pimenov (Moscow, Russia). How to choose a camp site, select staff, build a program, organize food service, take care of safety issues, and many other little secrets of a great tent camp experience.
  4. For Directors of Resident Camps: Camping in the Law: The Legal Basis for Camp Ministry (4 hours) - Vladislav Vovk (Istra, Russia). You will get acquainted with the laws that relate to your camp work and receive practical advice on how to abide by them. Topics include: employee certification, safety equipment, reporting to government entitities, lease contracts, working with the health department, and more.

Preregistration Required. No more than one representative from each camp.
  1. Leading Camps through Times of Transition (21.5 hours) - Tim Duffield (Canada)
  2. Organizing and Implementing Adult Conferences (4 hours) - John Ashmen (USA). A conference for those over age 18 is a totally different kind of event than a youth camp program - different schedule, different food, different music, different Bible teaching, and hopefully different sleeping accommodations. We'll explore an adult conference from start to finish and talk about all the things that make a difference in your budgeting and planning and in their expectations. We'll cover planning, staffing, promotional materials, schedule, greeting and hospitality, speakers, music, humor, meals and snacks, program variety, equipment, recreational activities, spiritual impact, and follow-up. Our presenter has not only run adult conferences at his own camp, but has been the person in charge of 21 different conferences over the past 16 years for Christian Camp and Conference Association, Christian Hospitality Network, and the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions.

Part 3: Beyond the Classroom

For those who have the strength and energy, we have a few recommendations for your lunch breaks:

  • For nature lovers and those who want to just spend time in the fresh air, there will be nature walks and tours of the conference grounds (these would not include trips to the store). Vyacheslav Altukhov and Sergei Khribar will be heading up outdoor activities.

The stoutest and most energetic we invite to our evening programs:

  • As always, each night the Videosalon will be at your service
  • Each evening, there will be an exhibition of... well, it's still a secret...

Not just on arrival day, but also on the day of departure you can make good use of your time: for anyone interested (and willing to pay their way) there will be an organized "Long Way back to the Station" - a bus tour around St. Petersburg. It will depart from the conference site and end at Moskovsky Train Station (near downtown).
